DR. CARL POOLE // LEAD PASTOR
Carl became Lead Pastor in April 2011. He has served churches in South & North Carolina. He earned his Master of Divinity & Doctor of Ministry Degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.
Carl enjoys spending time with his wife Melody and his two daughters Adrienne & Caroline. His favorite hobbies include going for walks with his family and computer technology. His greatest desire is to know Jesus Christ and make Him known.
One of his favorite verses is Joshua 1:9 which says, Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
MIKE STOKES // DISCIPLESHIP AND ADMINISTRATIVE PASTOR
Mike has served at WBC in various capacities since 1989. His current responsibilities include overseeing the administrative and discipleship ministries of the church. Mike’s passion in ministry is to see God’s people read and understand the Bible to the goal of knowing and trusting God – understanding our role as believers living in a fallen world, sharing the gospel with others, and anticipating His return.
Mike is a graduate of Clemson University and holds a Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Mike and his wife Stacy have two daughters: Katie and Reagan. He enjoys spending time outside and is an avid cyclist.
CRAIG GUY // STUDENT AND MISSIONS PASTOR
Craig became the Student Pastor at Wellford in June of 2014. He is a graduate of Byrnes High School and has served in Youth Ministry in the District 5 area for more than 25 years.He enjoys spending time with his wife Jeana, daughter Katie, and son Andrew. Craig’s passion is to share the Gospel with students and to lead them in their discipleship journey.
Brianna Hudgins // Director of Children's Ministry
Brianna joined our team in June of 2018. She is a recent graduate from North Greenville University where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with educational and psychology components. She has served on staff in children's ministry for many years.
Brianna is married to Andy Hudgins. Andy serves on the coaching staff at Wade Hampton High School in Greenville, SC.
Brianna is excited to serve the families & children of Wellford Church. She desires to teach and equip children on a level they understand and help their parents to be the best disciple makers as they lead their children.
One of her favorite verses is: "Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come." Proverbs 31:25
RENEE PEACE // MINISTRY ASSISTANT
Renee Peace became a member of the WBC team in March of 1995. She is married to Pete and they have 3 adult children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. It has been her honor to serve the staff and members of Wellford Baptist Church for over 20 years.
She is humbled by the fact that the wonderful people of her home church, Care Baptist, allow her to serve them as Music Director, Pianist and Sunday School teacher. It is her hearts desire to disciple God’s people and to lead the lost to Christ. Hobbies include reading, decorating, crafting and crocheting.
Caleb Horton // Summer Youth Intern
Caleb lives in Duncan with his wife Katie. He works at Motion Industries.
He is a graduate of Byrnes High School. He says, “It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.”
One of Caleb’s favorite quotes is: “Love never fails; Character never quits; and with patience and persistence; Dreams do come true.”
Caleb demonstrates a passion for student ministry and desires that they come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord & Saviour and grow in their knowledge of Him.
Gregory austin // custodial services
Gregory is originally from the New York area. He joined the WBC staff in 2006.
He lives in Woodstream apartments near the church.
He also works at Food Lion.
Gregory enjoys going for walks, riding bicycles, and sightseeing.
He likes working at WBC because of the people, the atmosphere and he says it is a fun place to work.
He enjoys custodial work knowing that he tries to maintain the facilities cleanliness, help people stay healthy, and keep them from getting sick.
